About The Eco-Friendly Renter

I didn't set out to become someone who reads energy bills for fun.

It started with a drafty apartment, a utility bill that made no sense, and a landlord who responded to every complaint with the same shrug. So I started figuring things out myself — one small fix at a time, one product swap at a time, one conversation with a surprisingly helpful hardware store employee at a time.

What I found was that almost everything written about sustainable living assumed you owned your home. Solar panels. New appliances. Insulation upgrades. None of it applied to me. So I kept a running list of what actually worked in a rental, what was a waste of money, and what my landlord would never even notice I'd changed.

That list became this site. I'm still adding to it.
